Having fought so hard for so long to keep from improving this state park campground, the State finally put in two rows of electric.  It isn't much but it is a start.

That being said, when the weather is dry the trail systems is first rate.

April 10-13, 2008

Even though it was wet, the trip was fun.

A line of storms came through.  The governmental weather people over reacted and sent out a warning for a cloud that might support rotation.  It was reported in Fitchville, about fifteen miles southeast of Wellington moving northeast at 60 miles per hour.  This was reported to the ranger who went lights and sirens to tell people he opened the Nature Center as a shelter.  I switched on the TV and found that the storm was well out of the county by the time he arrived.  It was a disappointing line of storms.  On the horizon they were wonderfully active.  By the time they arrived they were minor showers.

Moosie says, "ENOUGH STUDYING"!!!As we do, we stayed on site 231 which is decently dry even in the storms.

Meggie came out on Saturday and we did a "fry day".  We fried everything in a half-and-half mix of Crisco and lard.  Fellows that know frying say you can't fry in anything but.  We made corn dogs, corn bread bites, a peach pie and some fries.  Needless to say, we were pretty full.

We had a double load of wood.  Someone left wood on a nearby site and I claimed it and brought more.  We had a very nice fire.
